We're proud of our friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and this Code of Conduct makes sure that everyone enjoys their time at our club — whether bowling, watching, or socialising.
1. Be Respectful
- Treat everyone — players, officials, visitors, and staff — with courtesy and kindness.
- Always keep language and behaviour friendly and positive.
- Respect umpires and markers — we all make mistakes sometimes!
2. Fair Play and Enjoy the Game
- Always play in the true spirit of bowls — fair, honest, and sporting.
- Congratulate good shots and accept results with good grace.
- Avoid distracting bowlers during play.
- Be sympathetic when team-mates are not bowling well, it may be your turn to bowl badly tomorrow.
- Win with humility and lose with good grace.
- Remember: we’re all here to have fun and enjoy good company!
3. Dress and Equipment
- Follow the club’s dress code, be appropriately attired, and wear flat-soled, indoor bowling shoes on the green.
- Look after your own equipment and that of the club.
- Return anything borrowed and report any issues to a club official.
4. Care for the Club
- Treat our greens, facilities, and equipment with respect.
- No food whatsoever in the rink-side area and no drink to be taken onto the playing surface.
- Dispose of rubbish properly and leave all areas tidy. Return all glasses and cups to the bar area before you leave the club at the end of your bowling session.
- Report any damage or maintenance needs to a member of staff.
5. Health, Safety & Wellbeing
- Be aware of others and take care to avoid accidents.
- Report any incidents or hazards promptly.
- If you feel unwell or uncomfortable, please let someone know — we look out for each other here.
6. Alcohol and Conduct
- Enjoy a drink responsibly in designated areas.
- Anyone whose behaviour is affected by alcohol may be asked to take a break.
- Illegal substances and smoking or vaping are not permitted on club premises.
7. Everyone’s Welcome
- We’re proud to be an inclusive and friendly club.
- Bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
- Help make everyone — new members, guests, and visitors — feel welcome and valued.
8. If Something Goes Wrong
- If an issue arises, speak to a member of staff or committee member.
- Serious or repeated breaches of this Code may lead to formal action, however we'll always aim to handle matters fairly and respectfully.
